Mexico!
Two of my girlfriends and I decided to have a winter get-a-way with just the girls, so on February 18th the three of us headed to Cozumel for 7 days! It was the first time that I've ever been out of the country (yes - I had never been to Mexico or Canada...I didn't even own a passport until November 2008!), and it was so much fun! We left really early (7am) Wednesday morning, and after changing planes in Dallas arrived in Cozumel around 2:30 in the afternoon. Thankfully they are in the same time zone, so there was no jet lag. Unfortunately, my friend Lisa was sick with a sinus cold when we left, so after a snack and a short stint on the beach, she called it a night and proceeded to sleep for 15 hours straight. After that, she was ready to enjoy the sun, sand and fun!We stayed at an all inclusive resort, so all of our food and drinks were included in the cost of the hotel, so that was nice. And it was a great hotel - right on the beach, great staff, good food. The only bad part was they must have put us right beside the sewer because the room STUNK!The weather was great, it rained one day for about an hour, but other than that it was Sunny the whole time. We did so many fun things...parasailing, snorkeling, jeep tour around the island (which included more snorkeling, a tour of Mayan ruins, a tour of a Tequilla factory and lunch on the beach), swimming with dolphins, went to a spa, exploring the city, laying on the beach for hours on end...it was all great. And of course along the way we made friends with just about everyone we came across. Lots of people from Minnesota and Canada seem to vacation at the same time of year...wierd. :) On the second to last day, one of my other friends, who was staying at Playa del Carmen, came over to Cozumel with her boyfriend for the day and we rented a jeep and tootled around the island where we went to a Bob Marley bar, played with a parrot and saw a guy w/ a zebra stripped thong bikini...who turned out to be from Hudson, Wisconsin! It was such a great, relaxing time, that I'm sure this post doesn't do it justice. So you'll just have to give me a call to hear all about the excitement. And if you are looking for a vacation spot, I'd definately recommend Cozumel...it was so much fun! I have some pictures posted, so feel free to take a look at the photo album!
